The calender, at the far end of the paper machine, just before reeling, gives the final finish to the surface properties and printing quality of the manufactured paper. Over the years Etteplan has acquired product awareness and a working experience from designing Metso Paper, Inc. calenders. In 2002-2003 Etteplan was commissioned by Metso Paper to design a soft calender for Indonesia’s largest paper manufacturer, the Aspex Paper Mill on the island of Java.

The project included the layout and mechanical design of the calender and customer training. In addition to the calender itself, the assignment included designing the layout for auxiliary equipment, such as the hydraulics, heating and lubrication units.
