Steel Authority of India (SAIL) modernized to two blast furnaces and their peripheral equipment from 1990 to 1994 at its steel mill in Durgapur, north Bengal. The commission given to Etteplan’s Oulu office involved charging the mill’s blast furnace, the silos, the system for sinter return fines, the gas booster and mixing station and the Cowpers. The commission also involved a project for the slag granulation plant at one blast furnace.

Etteplan’s Oulu office was responsible for project management, for supervision system level 2 and for the basic automation system (level 1) as well as for instrumentation design, programming, commissioning and training for the above-mentioned.
