Etteplan’s Oulu unit joined in an extensive feasibility study into stepping up production capacity at Hadisolb steel mill’s sintering plant, blast furnaces and steel works in Egypt. The project was carried out from 1999 to 2000.
As a result of the study, a development programme was drawn up for the Hadisolb mill, which included provisional information on new equipment, a recommendation for implementing the programme, cost estimates and a proposal for arranging financing.
During the project, Etteplan’s experts put together information on the mill’s operations in Egypt. Laboratory analyses of the mill’s raw materials, sinter, dust and process waters were conducted in Finland. The final report was presented to the customer in Egypt.
The purpose of the feasibility study was to clarify the factors related to energy savings, environmental protection, and stepping up productivity. The study into energy savings included a review of the present situation, the use of existing equipment, the costs for new equipment and economic benefit.
