A new, efficient steel strip galvanizing line came on line in 2000 at Rautaruukki’s Hämeenlinna mill. The new line raises the mill’s galvanizing capacity and rounds out the product range. After cold rolling, coating a steel strip with zinc upgrades the non-corrosive properties of steel.

Etteplan’s Oulu office was responsible for designing the line. The commission included layout, technical, construction, HEPAC, electrical and automation design. Etteplan was also responsible for installation supervision and commissioning.

The project was carried out on schedule from 1998 to 2000. The costs for the commission were also kept in line with the budget.
