  Project in Brief

Stora Enso’s Kaukopää Mill produces chemical pulp 714’000 t/year and CTMP pulp 78’000 t/year. A new Metso DryWayTM concept pulp drying line was installed in 2001.


Main technical data of Kaukopää Pulp Cutter are:

- Production capacity 1000 ADMTD
- Pulp grades pine, birch and CTMP
- Web width at Cutter 3200 mm
- Web dryness 90 %
- Basis weight of the web 700…1000 g/m2
- Sheet size 800 x 900 mm
- Bale weight 250/300 kg
- Constructional speed 300 m/min

The Metso DryWayTM Cutter is fully automatic:

- It threads the tail from the dryer automatically
- It cuts the web in longitudinal and cross directions
- It overlaps the sheets using patented double overlapping system
- It stacks the sheets on bale table
- It weighs and/or counts the sheets
- It empties the bale table for a new drop of bales


Cutter is provided with Siemens S7 PLC control system. Touch Panels are used for operator interface. Connection to other mill systems is based on Profibus technology.
