Etteplan’s Oulu office is designing an expanded Rautaruukki process management system for the coking plant at the Rourkela steel mill in India (Rautaruukki’s Computerised Heating Control System, COHC, and Rautaruukki Digital Position System, RADIPOSI). A new aspect of the system, which is being taken into use in 2005, is that in addition to its normal function of monitoring the coking plant, it also controls analyses of the by-product plant.

The project includes a coking plant data system, a process management system for analyses in the by-product plant, supervising the design and installation of coke battery instrumentation and a bucket car location system (RADIPOSI).

The new process management system makes it possible to improve the running of a coking plant as well as the even quality of the coke. This in turn makes it possible to save energy and extends the life of a coking plant.
