Nokian Tyres is building a tyre plant in Vsevolozhsk near St Petersburg. The project is being implemented in several phases over a period of approximately ten years. The first phase, completed in September 2005, comprised tyre assembly lines and curing presses. Planning for the second phase of the project got underway in spring 2005. The second phase comprises a mixing plant and the first stages of building a warehouse.
Etteplan has been involved in the design for both phases and it has been responsible for the design and design project management of the project’s so-called utility processes, electrical distribution, process electrification and building automation. The plant’s utility processes include the cooling water, steam, pressurised air, process water and wastewater system and the natural gas distribution system, the back-up fuel system for the boiler plant and the storage facilities for fuel and process oils. Designing building automation comprised, amongst other things, designing building electrification and the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electricity and automation (HVACEA) systems as well as the fire extinguishing systems.
In addition to design, the extent of Etteplan’s delivery includes drafting the calls for bids, design adaptation and submissions for approval by the Russian authorities, and coordinating the planning for the different sub areas.
