Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB in Sweden, a long-standing customer of Etteplan, manufacturers advanced gas turbines to customers in the energy sector. Case Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Expertise Product and Asset Information Spare part catalogs to Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB in four months Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery's complex products and their related technical product information always need customization according to end customer needs. Due to a growing number of customer deliveries, Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery needed quickly to develop and ramp up a process to create up-to-date and high-quality spare parts information. Development of turbines being the customer’s core business, the company felt it needed specialist support to develop a spare parts documentation process that would support the upcoming information needs in the after sales business. It was also crucial for the customer to get the spare parts catalogs done in the shortest possible time. Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery and Etteplan started discussions regarding Etteplan’s services and selected Etteplan PARTS, a service utilizing the industry’s most advanced methods and software tools to create and distribute spare parts information. Solution Etteplan’s team commenced the project in a workshop with the customer to identify the needs and specifications for the spare part catalogues. The product structures were imported and converted into spare part structures with the help of the HyperPARTS software. To visualize the complex turbines, Etteplan used the customer’s existing 3D models as a basis for technical illustrations which were created with Etteplan’s advanced methods. The illustrations and exploded views are visual and easy-to-understand diminishing the possibility of misinterpretations. All illustrations can be reused, which makes the production of new materials efficient and cost effective. The solution enables the end-user to view and to drill-down into detailed technical information via a user-friendly Viewer-interface in addition to traditional pdf catalogues. Results and benefits Only four months after the project was started Etteplan delivered to the customer a spare parts catalogue in PDF format as well as the HyperPARTS Viewer software application to drill-down to detailed product information. These enabled the end-customer a quick and easy access to the relevant spare parts information shortening the machine down-time in case of a defect product or component. Thanks to the project, the customer also gained clarity as to which spare parts to store on site and which ones were to be ordered upon need.
