Etteplan Test Day 2018 Event - Date: 13.06.2018 Back to events and webinars Transfer to production and successful ramp-up The traditional (3rd time in a row!) annual Etteplan Test day was held on Wednesday the 13.6.2018. Some 30 professionals gathered to discuss how production and production ramp-up should be managed especially when talking about industrial or medical products with critical functionality. Ilpo Harjumäki started the day presenting the production tester suppliers view. Ilpo emphasised in his presentation the importance of Gage R&R and golden samples to prove that you have a well performing and functioning tester when starting the producton and ramping up the volume. Metso's process equipment need to operate in demanding and also explosion proof environments. Jyri Hakola from Metso explained us how these ATEX requirements affect production testing and for example specifications for test limits. Jyri also gave good guidelines on where to make some additional investments in order to save time and money over the whole long life cycle of the products. Planmeca is producing a high mix of medical devices. Planmeca has two separate divisions and these have not been sharing the common good practices when it comes to managing the production. Lauri Anttila discussed how standardization has helped. It has made co-operation between the divisions easier, saved time and money when taking new design into production and improved quality overall. Lauri also provided good tips on how the standardization work could be started in a larger organization. Keijo Uusimaa gave us the EMS providers view. It is probably not a big surprise that good and systematic communication and early preparation are key success factors. During the previous presentations there was discussion how the skyWATS product has helped communication for example at Metso (editorial note). The presentations are available below in the agenda.
