Nicco’s journey to Etteplan: Balance, freedom and new opportunities

Nicco first came into contact with Etteplan in 2022, but nothing came of it then – another opportunity with a previous employer appeared at the last moment. However, the impression of Etteplan, and especially the recruiting manager, stayed with him. “I had a great impression during the first interview, that’s why I decided to come back,” Nicco explains.

Daring to change paths

After a couple of years, the idea of reconnecting with Etteplan resurfaced. “I reached out to my contact Petra from HR again, and after a new interview, I got the job. It felt right,” says Nicco.

The experiences from previous employers – handling many machines, creating processes, and collaborating with different teams – proved valuable in the new role. “There aren’t many who have had the chance to build a maintenance system from scratch,” Nicco reflects.

Preconceptions about consulting vs. reality at Etteplan

Like many others, Nicco had certain preconceptions about the consulting industry: “I thought you were very time-controlled, that you had to record every minute. And that you were more replaceable than if you were permanently employed.” But the reality at Etteplan turned out to be different. “We have collective agreement and the same security as other companies. Here, freedom and flexibility are what matter,” says Nicco.

Balancing work, leisure and a new family member

A decisive factor in choosing Etteplan was the possibility of remote work. “We got a puppy just as I started, so it’s been perfect to work from home and share the responsibility with my partner,” Nicco explains. The freedom to manage his workday, combine home days with social office days, and make time for both family and hobbies has been invaluable. “I appreciate being able to work from home, but also going to the office to meet colleagues,” says Nicco.

Company culture, community and benefits

Etteplan’s culture and benefits contribute to well-being. Nicco appreciates the wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK for employees in Sweden: “I play golf, so that helps a lot!” He also likes the company’s global fitness challenge where employees collect points for activities and convert them into donations for charity. Thursdays mean coffee at the office, and for Nicco, it’s a highlight: “We gather, enjoy something tasty, and chat – it creates a nice sense of community.”

Finding his own path

Nicco looks back on the journey with pride and gratitude. “I was positively surprised by most things: the company, the department, and the opportunity to influence my daily life. It feels good to be here.” For Nicco, it’s about daring to try new things, bringing experiences along, and finding a balance that works both professionally and personally.
