Servicehistory.online – a digital service book

The service history of devices and machinery is not always recorded or it is recorded in numerous booklets and folders, in both companies and homes. Recording service entries is complicated and often the service book is not on hand right when the servicing is being carried out.

Keeping track of large volume of equipments and their services is difficult in companies  – and even if the information is in electronic form, it may be scattered throughout different systems.

Solution: A digital service book for all machines and devices offers a user-friendly tool for companies, regardless of their industry. All performed servicing can be entered in the book, and servicing costs can be monitored. Reminders of upcoming regular servicing are sent via email.

Another person can be authorized to access the information, which facilitates the distribution of information both in companies and in households. Information can be entirely transferred to another user in connection with a change in a device’s ownership,

The service is currently available in English, Finnish and Swedish. It is available to both companies and private persons. Use of the service for a single device is free of charge.

“Servicehistory.online was created to serve many types of users, and it makes daily life easier in households and large companies alike. The technical implementation of the service can also be scaled to a high number of users, and naturally the service is easy to use on mobile and desktop,” explains Etteplan’s Business Architect, Matti Anttonen.

“The cooperation with Etteplan went without a hitch, and most importantly, communication was always fast and straightforward,” says Kimmo Lakiasuo of servicehistory.online. “All of the work stages and the related matters were explained understandably. Assistance and advice were provided for any matter during the project,” he adds.

The following technologies are employed:

  • Frontend: React, Redux, Chart.js, Google Analytics, reCAPTCHA
  • Backend: ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, Cron jobs
  • Checkout payment integration
  • Mailgun timed emails
  • Azure: Servers in Azure, Azure DevOps + CI/CD pipeline, Blob Storage
