Etteplan’s collaboration with Kuopion Energia marked a milestone in the digitalization of technical documentation. Building on that success, we developed Master Data Extraction 2.0 (MDE 2.0) — an AI-powered document intelligence solution that automates information extraction and streamlines the management of all document types.
Simplifying the management of complex technical drawings
At Kuopion Energia, managing and locating technical drawings had become a major bottleneck. The company’s archives contained thousands of files with inconsistent or cryptic names, making manual searches time-consuming and error-prone.
To accelerate its digital transformation, Kuopion Energia needed a way to automatically extract and classify information from these documents with minimal manual effort.
Our first-generation AI solution successfully addressed this by recognizing and organizing data from technical drawings, reducing manual work and improving accuracy. However, each document type required individual training and large datasets, limiting scalability whenever new document types or customers were introduced.
