Case Neste Expertise Software and Digitalization Neste’s electric vehicle charging services in Finland complement its portfolio of solutions that reduce transport emissions. Neste provides customized Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions for businesses, Neste Charge™ and public high power charging solution, Neste MY Renewable Charging™ for consumers. Neste partnered with Etteplan to enable more accessible and customer friendly mobile and card payments for EV charging. Neste’s first public charging station with mobile and card payment opened in Finland in December 2022. A comprehensive solution for mobile and card payment Neste serves both business and consumer customers with its expanding EV charging network and solutions. Neste identified a need for mobile payments for both customer segments and a need for card payments especially for consumer customers. “Neste chose Etteplan as the development partner due to our cooperation history on previous projects, and Etteplan’s expertise in delivering payment solutions for the fuel industry,” explains Dennis Stolt, Head of Digital Development, Marketing & Services, Neste. Etteplan’s solution for both consumer and business customers is a mobile payment feature in the Neste App, developed by Etteplan in an earlier project, with card payment enabled for consumers. The payment software was developed with integrations with two different charging station infrastructures. In addition, Etteplan Application Lifecycle Management service (Etteplan ALM) handles the maintenance of the software with 24/7 support. Altogether, the project required a wide range of expertise including service design, mobile development, UX, back-end development, software testing, and payment expertise. Neste stays on the cutting edge of development and serves its customers even better With the mobile payment feature enabled, Neste can enhance customer experience in the consumer and business segment. Also, Neste is now one of the first EV charging providers to offer a card payment option. “The entirety of the expertise needed for the project was flexibly provided by Etteplan, making the information flow and cooperation seamless, and allowing us to concentrate on our core business,” concludes Dennis Stolt.
