Metehe Oy is a Finnish family-owned company that has been working with steel roofing and sheet metal since 1998. Carbon footprint is a key metric in Metehe’s upcoming sustainability reporting, which is why the company has committed to tracking it annually. With the calculation tool developed by Etteplan, Metehe can independently assess and monitor its carbon footprint.

The project started with calculating the organization’s carbon footprint, measuring greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the company's operations in 2023. During the calculation, a Microsoft Excel-based tool was developed, covering emissions from both the company’s own operations and its value chain. The final outcome was a user-friendly tool into which the client can directly input or copy necessary data from their own systems without intermediaries. The tool also includes a printable report and visual representations of results, which the client can save in PDF format.

The project started with calculating the organization’s carbon footprint, measuring greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the company's operations in 2023. During the calculation, a Microsoft Excel-based tool was developed, covering emissions from both the company’s own operations and its value chain. Moving forward, Metehe can perform carbon footprint calculations independently, as the need for updates to the calculation template is minimal. Etteplan is responsible for updating emission factors in the tool and making customizations as needed.

Based on the data collection for 2023, we tailored the first version of the calculation template, which the client was able to test and provide feedback on. The tool was further developed based on this feedback.

Through the project, Metehe gained a comprehensive understanding of the climate impact of its operations and can now monitor its development independently.
